Russell Peek
Description of work: Russell is a medical educator, who is interested in the effect of occupational stress on medical doctors in training. His research aims to understand variability in response to stress from a psychophysiological perspective, and how such variability influences the performance, progression, mental health, and well-being of medical learners. Findings from this PhD research programme have the potential to allow us to prospectively identify trainees who might benefit from targeted early support, and facilitate the development of evidence-based interventions to equip doctors with the capabilities to thrive under pressure. This will help safeguard the productivity and wellbeing of the future healthcare workforce and, ultimately, improve patient safety.
